Manti Elementary School Community Council Meeting Minutes

Attendance: Heidi Stilson, Fawntell Mogle, David Ipson, Karen Steurer, Rene Barlow, Kenyon Ward, Megan Fawcett, Tresa Hanks, Sharee Jensen

The first item of business was reviewing the last council minutes.
- Motion: Rene made a motion to approve the minutes.
- Second: Heidi seconded the motion.
- Vote: Passed unanimously.
The minutes from the September 23rd meeting were also reviewed.
- Motion: Tresa made a motion to approve the minutes.
- Second: Karen Sterer seconded the motion.
- Vote: Passed unanimously.

4. TSSP Plan: Reviewed current goals and progress.

5. School Safety

Device Security & Filtering:
- The school uses Jamf to control apps on iPads and provide an added layer of filtering and security.
- Teachers use the Classroom App to monitor student activity in real time.
Safety Plan:
- Reviewed Manti Elementary’s emergency and safety procedures
- The school follows the “I Love You” Foundation model used statewide: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, Shelter.
- Each area was reviewed in depth by the council.
Preventative Safety Measures:
- Digital Citizenship: Ongoing instruction for students.
- Drop-Off and Pick-Up: Continued issues discussed; suggestion made to add flags at major crosswalks for visibility.
- Mental Health & Behavior Resources:
  - Yasmin Heywood (1 day per week)
  - Breanna Anderson (2 days per week)
- Safety Drills: Conducted monthly, rotating types.
- Behavior Expectations:
  - Staff supervise during recess.
  - Repeat offenders are sent to skills for intervention.
- Visitor Policy:
  - All visitors must check in and receive a visitor pass before entering classrooms.

6. School Report

Recent Events:
- Fall Festival – Huge success with great turnout.
- Halloween – Went smoothly; no complaints.
- Quarterly Celebration – Annual Talent Show, high student participation and enthusiasm.
Upcoming Events:
- Christmas Program – December 17th at 6:00 p.m.
- PBS Kids Read-A-Thon
- Teacher Training – January 5th
- November Kindness Challenge
- Spelling Bee – December and January
