Welcome and meeting called to order at 3:05pm by Vice Chair, Kaycie Sorenson.

Wellness Policy: Mr. Gillett went over the South Sanpete Wellness Scorecard which is mainly asking questions about our lunch program. He presented the questions and information to the council. They read through it and made sure we were in compliance with all of it.
Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up next week on Thursday, February 13, 2025 from Noon - 7:00pm. Parents can make an appointment through www.schoolbookings.net and use code: rkk3y. There is no school on the 13th, 14th or 17th (Presidents’ Day) for students. Parent members of the council all said they really like the booking process and making appointments. That way they are not sitting around waiting in long lines to talk to a teacher.
Mr. Gillett said the Final Report for the 2023-24 Trust Lands plan will be submitted soon.
Mr. Gillett also reviewed with the council the Current Plan for the 2024-25 Trust Lands. The council talked about the 3 current goals and what we are working on this year. You can view the current plan through the following link: 2024-25 Trust Lands Plan
Some ideas were talked about for the 2025-26 Trust Lands plan.
a. ELL (2-preps) - There is a 6th grade ELL class and a 7th/8th grade ELL class. (Possible funding increase)
b. STEM - Supplies (increase funding for materials needed for this class)
c. Scholastic/Aleks/IXL Apps/Band/Programs (keep funding the same)
d. Para-Professionals (Aides) - (Possibly increase funds)
e. Science Teacher Supplies - Possibly increase $1,000 for each Science class $3,000 total.
f. Professional Development - Keep the same
g. Supervision before School - There are programs like Ovation & Jazz Band that have a teacher or advisor in charge. There are other students coming in extra early, what could we do? (Ideas: games, other programs, hire a para to supervise, show school approved reels in the commons, etc.)
Mr. Gillett informed the council that Ephraim Middle School would be getting a Single Point Entry system installed in the next few weeks. This is to help ensure the safety of our school. At the front doors, anyone visiting the school will need to “call in” and secretaries in the office will be able to see people on a video.
Kaycie reminded the council of the next SCC meeting on March 26, 2025 @ 3:00pm in the Library.
Angela Gerber made a motion to adjourn the meeting @ 4:09. It was seconded by Kaycie Sorenson. All members were unanimous.
