Erin asked if there were any concerns that needed to be addressed.  Staci Mecham commented that the kindergarten curriculum does not cover any of the items that are covered on the Acadience Math Test.  The council discussed and decided to create a focus group with k-1 staff that can address better curriculum that would align better with the testing.

Megan Fawcett asked about the amount of money that is being spent on the LIM program and could it be better spent in another area.  Mr. Ipson explained the benefits of the program and how it is a culture in our school.  It was determined that for the time being that LIM is the most cost effective program for the benefits that you get from it.

Trustlands: This year’s goal was for Acadience reading and Acadience math growth.  Our growth in reading this as determined by MOY scores is 65%.  Our growth in math as determined by MOY scores is 61% growth.

The council had a discussion about how growth is celebrated with the students.  The group would like to continue to brainstorm and think about ways to effectively celebrate growth for students.

The council discussed what areas we would like to focus on for next year, which will determine where the trustlands money will be distributed. Mr. Ipson asked the question about how we want to measure the goal. Do we want a percentage or a composite score?  Group discussed and was leaning toward a growth goal.  As a group we determined that we would like to determine success based on a growth goal.  The committee would like to see 75% of students at Manti Elementary meeting their growth goal.

January PD Days are Valentines Parties, Reading Incentives, Reach for the Stars and Parent Conferences.  Reading incentives for the remainder of the year was discussed.  Parents are seeing an increase in their students.  It was reported by the community council parents that their own students are not only reading more at home, but enjoying reading more.  Information about Reach for the stars will be coming within the next couple of weeks.

Rene made a motion to adjourn the meeting. A second was made.  Elise seconded.  All approved.  Meeting adjourned.
