2020-2021 School Calendar was presented. Was approved by the School Board last week.

Mr. Ipson discussed his principal training last week.  He was inspired by Andy Jacks and discussed some of his ideas that he has implemented in his school.  Mr. Ipson wants to incorporate some of those ideas for MES. He asked what we as the council wanted to see improved at MES.  Mrs. Peterson commented that we are headed on the right track with the STEM lab and with training that has been held. Her suggestion is 1 to 1 Ipads. She felt that the school atmosphere was becoming more positive.  Chris talked about the STEM lab and how great that is for students and teaching them how to learn in different ways. Also talked about how great the Leader in Me program is. Mr. Ipson let us know that they had put a team together that they had applied for a STEM lab for a $150,000 grant.  They should know back at the end of February. He proposed that some of the Trust Land money be used to help with small STEM lab opportunities if the grant is not awarded.

He also discussed that Literacy should be our #1 academic focus at MES, which can be tied back to STEM Lab opportunities.  Refocus room is another area Mr. Ipson feels needs to be improved. Helping kids with social and emotional skills is vital for our kids. He wants the refocus room to be more of a wellness center and helping kids learn to refocus.

Next meeting the rough draft of the Trust Land Budget should be done for us to look at.

PTO - Rose talked about the talent show that is coming up. Family Week was voted out by the PTO.  Family week would be replaced with more periodic activities. PTO talked about various fundraising ideas. Pampered Chef brought in $1600.  T-shirts are being sold again and the store is up and available with I-4.

No other items were brought up by the Community Council.  The calendar was discussed and the next Community Council meeting was set for March 18.

Meeting was adjourned by Jake. Motioned by Chris, second by Mrs. Jorgensen.
