Community Council Meeting
October 16, 2024
In attendance: Arleen Jensen, Marci Childs, Jess Jackman, Mckinlee Jensen, Lisa Anderson.
Welcome new members: Our new members Jess Jackman, Lisa Anderson, and Mckinlee Jensen were introduced and welcomed.
Member Responsibilities: An introduction to responsibilities of council members was given. Watched a video on the Trust System. Elise Bown spoke briefly about Amendment A. It was recommended that council members take the time to look at the additional training on their own.
Election of Officers: Jess Jackman was nominated as chairman by Arleen Jensen and seconded by Marci Childs. Jess Jackman nominated Lisa Anderson as Vice Chairman and it was seconded by Marci Childs.
Rules and Procedures: Reviewed the new Binders and went over the information included.
Review and Approve minutes: Minutes were passed out to all members in attendance. They were read by Penny Hartley. A motion to approve the minutes from March was made by Arleen Jensen and seconded by Jess Jackman.
Reviewed the current budget. No questions were raised.
Went over the reading and math data. Discussed how the state expectations are unrealistic and how the data has changed. Plan for this year is 80% proficiency in reading and 70% in math.
Discussed TSSA and Title 1 Funding and what they pay for. Jess was going to look into the qualifying income for free and reduced lunch and see if it has changed.
Safety principles - Drills will be held monthly. We discussed threats and if something happens there will be a reunification plan which will be discussed in our next council meeting.
Asked council members to read the wellness policy for the next meeting.
Discussed Halloween and it being a short day this year and thoughts on changing the parade to the a.m. - mixed feelings
Christmas celebrations were thought to be inconvenient but well liked. Christmas concert on Dec 17th
Motion to adjourn was made by Marci and seconded by Jess.
Next meeting to be held November 14th at 3:30
