5 - Wellness Policy - The committee briefly reviewed the wellness policy. One question raised was if we are giving too many treats. The response was that we are not using treats as a reward any longer. It was also asked if students are getting enough physical activity. There was a comment made that students are getting more outside time than they were last year. No other concerns were raised.
6 - PIC: The PIC committees are formed and running smoothly.
7 - Next years plan - It was discussed to continue the Art Program next year as long as the grant continues and we have a teacher.
Thoughts and goals for next year:
Question was raised about getting rid of IPads. Pros and cons of Ipads were discussed and it was decided the pro’s outweigh the cons.
Math and Reading on grade level- the current goal is 80% by the end of the year and 50% on Rise. We are currently at 64% on reading and 68% on Math. It was discussed whether 80 is achievable and what the benefits would be to lowering the goal. Markell suggested lowering Math to 70, leaving reading at 80, and leaving Rise at 50%.
8 - Questions and concerns: No new questions or concerns were raised.
Our next community council meeting will be held on March 6, 2024 at 3 pm in the Gunnison Valley Elementary School conference room.
