Adam Peterson – Welcome

It takes a lot of people to run a school

            Thanks for being here today

Jenny Anderson  - Librarian

*Main goal is to get students in the library

Research shows that students that use the library – grades improve

Wants to make it more user friendly – talking to Jan Crane, our school IT person, about

getting a computer to assist students in their search for books.

Would like to get signage for areas of the library, to make more user friendly

Future goal:  Want to have teacher collaborate on different subjects to create escape

                        rooms for subject retention

            Budget concerns:

Signage (important because students get intimidated when they don’t know

                                    where things are.

                        Maybe PTO could make donations

Sharon Mecham ask Jenny to get a needs list together and find time to discuss

Ashley Dyreng - Student Council and Strong Squad advisor

Student Council – Attended a training in the summer, Organized Welcome Back to

School activities, Assemblies, Dances, Holiday decorations for halls and have

more activities planned for the future.

Members of the student council are asked to be a friend to all, keep good

grades, be good leaders, set a good example.

Strong Squad – Emphasize Bulldog Strong goals, sponsored a donation drive which was a

competition between the grades and will deliver items on January 19 to Food and Care Coalition.

They also make posters to promote the STRONG qualities pillars.

Discussion for the 8th grade “Send Off” activity

Ellia Anderson (SBO President)  Was asked what the students preferred a traditional

graduation or the “Send Off” activity and she felt like the students preferred the “Send

            Off”

Officer Buege – Resource Officer

            Talked about Safe School

All doors are locked except the front doors

Have completed all the drills required

Looking into District wide policy for all faculty and staff wearing ID badges on lanyards

Attendance was addressed

            District flow chart handed out

Need to not differentiate between excused and unexcused absences – when a student misses school they miss  valuable instruction time no matter what the reason.

Adam Peterson and Sharon Mecham:

PCBL – How to facilitate learning

Do students feel connected to their teachers?

Different ways to demonstrate learning – not the traditional way of determining how

much a student knows – choices are given to demonstrate learning

Technology has changed our world and out kids live in that world.

How to engage students in multiple ways by giving them choices and options, but need

supervision and guidance by their teachers.

Teachers need to be openminded to suggestions by the students and then guide them in

ways to accomplish their objectives that demonstrate what they have learned.

            PBL = Options in learning
