Topics of Discussion:

            Trustlands 

                        Money received for this school year - $52,866.00

                        Based on student enrollment (our school receives the least due to student population)

                        Community Council approves the way it is to be used

            COVID update:

                        GVMS has had the lowest number of students in the district

                        GVMS is still sanitizing classrooms, cafeteria

                        Ken Peterson, our custodian, does a wonderful job in keeping our school clean.

            PCBL

                        This program gives students more opportunities to master the subject/standards 

                        Multiple ways for students to demonstrate learning

                        State of Utah is going to Standard Based Learning – some schools are already doing it. 

                        This tells students, teachers, and parents exactly what they have mastered/learned

            

            Counseling

                        Working on a data project to help Hispanic parents and students by offering a parenting class

                        We have 233 students and 38 are Hispanic which is 6% of our student population. 

                        The Hispanic parenting class has had really good participation 

                                    Dinner and babysitting is provided

                                    Class and learning materials all in Spanish. 

                        Have a new mental health specialist – Jaylynn Olson

                        Have a wellness room for students that need a place to calm down

                                    Received a grant to furnish the room last year

                                    Had homerooms being students down at the beginning of the school year to make 

                                    students more aware of what we had to offer

                        Red Ribbon Week – Theme:  Being Drug Free Looks Like ME!

                                    October 18-22

                                    Dress-up days

                                    Guest speaker 10/18 at the High School

                                    Guest speaker 10/20 Dr Willden

            PBIS     (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports)

                        Bulldog Strong

                        Building a culture at our school of Service, Teamwork, Respect, Ownership, Nice and Gratitude.

                        Teachers catch students being good and reward with a Bulldog Card, which they can redeem for 

                        a piece of candy or collect cards and redeem for a candy bar. 

                        State Bank of Southern Utah is sponsoring GVMS 

                        All 3 Gunnison schools are participating, each handling in a different way. 

            Digital Sign – Coming soon – will be a welcome way to notify community about school activities 

            PTO 

                        Is doing activities for National School Lunch Week

                        Will judge projects for Innovations Week

                        Plus more upcoming events

            Paras and Substitutes

                        Having a hard time getting people to apply

                        Have a drastic shortage in the district and our school 

            Phishing scams
