|Teaching 1 period||No retirement, no medical benefits, no prep period and paid 1/7 of contract (5 hrs/week)|
|Teaching 2 periods||No retirement, no medical benefits, no prep period and paid 2/7 of contract (10 hrs/week)|
|Teaching 3 periods||No retirement, no medical benefits, 1/2 prep period and paid 3.5/7 of contract (17.5 hrs/week)|
|Teaching 4 periods||Receives retirement, no medical benefits, 1/2 prep period and paid 4.5/7 of contract (22.5 hrs/week)|
|Teaching 5 periods||Receives retirement, medical benefits, 1 prep period and paid 6/7 of contract (30 hrs/week)|
Teachers who teach 1, 2, or 3 periods are considered Temporary Employees (part-time), unless otherwise determined by the Board. They are at-will employees who have no expectation of continued employment or rights to grievance or due process as contained in the Orderly Dismissal Policy. Reference Policies: GCG and GCK.
A provisional employee must work for the District on at least a half-time basis (teaching 4 periods) for three consecutive years to obtain career employee status.
